Moments of great clarity: it may sound a bit bombastic, but try to imagine it in today’s rock world. Shaking Godspeed had already had quite a few moments when this clarity presented itself. A year after the release of their first EP, the band released the album AWE in 2010. The first headline tours, all the necessary prime time media appearances, support shows for giants such as Deep Purple and festivals such as Sziget were quickly crossed off the ‘bucket list’. AWE was voted Album of the Year on musicfrom, and during the second season of the Nederpopshow Shaking Godspeed was bombarded as band of the year. Successor Hoera from 2012 was received in a similar way, and was also released together with its predecessor on the German label Drakkar. After the subsequent series of performances, developments suddenly came to a standstill with the departure of bassist and organist Paul Diersen. Instead of quickly finding a replacement and marching on, the original members, singer/guitarist Wout Kemkens and drummer Maarten Rischen, seized the opportunity to stand on the sidelines for a while. The duo soon found the perfect musicians in the exceptionally talented individuals of Alex van Damme and Rocco Ostermann.
